The Florida State University (FSU) tennis program has a rich history of producing talented players and competing at the highest level in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). History of Florida State Tennis

The Florida State University tennis program was established in 1947, with the men’s team competing in the first season. The women’s team was added in 1973, and since then, both teams have experienced significant success. The Seminoles have won numerous conference championships, including 15 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) titles, and have made over 30 NCAA tournament appearances. The program has also produced several individual national champions, including Paul Haarhuis, who won the NCAA singles title in 1988, and Joanna Mather, who claimed the NCAA doubles title in 2011.

Facilities and Coaching Staff

The Florida State University tennis teams compete at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center, a state-of-the-art facility that features 12 outdoor courts and a 1,000-seat stadium. The center is named after Scott Speicher, a former FSU tennis player who was killed in action during the Gulf War. The Seminoles are led by head coaches Dwayne Hultquist (men’s team) and Jennifer Hyde (women’s team), both of whom have extensive coaching experience and a proven track record of success. The coaching staff is dedicated to developing the skills of their players and preparing them for competition at the highest level.

Notable Players and Alumni

The Florida State University tennis program has produced numerous talented players who have gone on to compete at the professional level. Some notable alumni include Paul Haarhuis, who won the NCAA singles title in 1988 and went on to become a top-20 player in the world; Jeff Salzenstein, who played professionally for over a decade and reached a career-high ranking of 100; and Noelle Hickey, who won the NCAA doubles title in 2011 and competed in the main draw of the US Open. The program’s current roster features several players who are ranked among the top 100 in the country, including Sebastian Arcila and Victoria Allen.
